The aim of this event is to support the transition of year 6 students into secondary school. The students worked together in small teams to complete tasks. It gave the year 6 students a chance to ask any questions that they had about life at Central Academy and enabled them to make some new friends and have some friendly faces for when they arrive at Central in September. A brilliant day was had by all including the 24 sports leaders from Central Academy who ran the practical activities and the warm up. #Transition #CentralCommunity #Ambition #Resilience #Respect

Accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), they provide peer support, deliver health campaigns, and signpost services, helping to reduce health inequalities. Eight Year 9 Students were selected to take part in the programme which includes two days of training, an exam, coursework and delivering a campaign within Central Academy. Upon completion they will receive a Level 2 in Health Improvement. The students received sessions from CADAS, Beacon Counselling Trust, Police and Public Health from Dr Alex Prescott and Colin Cox, Director of Public Health. Our students put their ideas to Colin Cox on their priorities for young people in Cumbria which were Free School Meals and Free Uniform for everyone. They have decided to to run three campaigns in school around Vaping, Mental Health and Healthy Eating. The students will be delivering these campaigns before the end of term.
