Sophia won the points for team Valentia with a fantastic version of Amy Winehouse’s Valerie. 🟡 A huge well done to Eviee and Niamh (both 7SST) representing house Luguvalium who sang When I’m gone (the cup song) from Pitch perfect and Lily (7AME), with the help of Musarad who represented house Hadrian singing Benson Boone’s hit Beautiful things. This leaves the standings table at... 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝟟 𝔾𝕣𝕒𝕞𝕞𝕒𝕣 𝕊𝕥𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 👩‍💼 𝘌𝘯𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦 🧑‍💼 Last week our Y7 Grammar Stream completed their Enrichment Programme with our partners Armstrong Watson. The 12-week Enrichment Programme involved specialist colleagues from Armstrong Watson coming into the academy to teach our students all about the world of business, finance and accountancy. Throughout the programme, students were also putting this knowledge to the test whilst developing their long-term project - their very own business ideas! Our students have engaged fantastically with this programme and we would like to say a massive thank you to Armstrong Watson and well done to all of the students involved.   In our closing ceremony last week, students worked together in small teams, pairs, and even independently to present and pitch their business ideas to Armstrong Watson senior colleagues in a dragon’s den style format at the Armstrong Watson HQ in Carlisle. Demonstrating the knowledge and understanding they have picked up throughout the programme. The judges were blown away by all of the presentations, and our students did us proud - speaking passionately and confidently about their original business ideas.    However, there had to be a winner!    Special recognitions must go out to; 🥉 3rd Place - Faye B 🥈 2nd Place - Mani M, Theo W, Mateusz P, Max P, Precious O 🥇 1st Place - Toby C, Quinn S, Isaac D     Our top three groups as chosen by the judges will be rewarded within the academy.   A huge well done to all of our students. 🥫 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕𝕓𝕒𝕟𝕜 ℂ𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟞 🥫 This week has ‘BEAN’ absolutely amazing! 🫘 Over the last two weeks we have been collecting donations to support the Carlisle Foodbank. As ever, our students, staff and wider community have absolutely smashed everything we could have ever hoped for or expected! An amazing 1⃣ 7⃣ 4⃣ bags of donations! Wow! 🤩 This charity drive supports the Carlisle Foodbank who in turn support vulnerable families, older people and young adults in our city with short term supplies of food staples, toiletries and household products. In 2025 the Carlisle Foodbank gave out 10,021 emergency food packages to people in our city and 2349 of them were for children. In Christmas week 529 packages were handed out with 170 for children. All donations, no matter how little or large can be dropped with Mrs Barnsley in 𝟬𝟬𝟭 before 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟯𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 when the Foodbank volunteers are coming to school to pick up our bags of donations. #CentralToOurCommunity #Ambition #Resilience #Respect

🤝 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝟙𝟘, 𝟙𝟚 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝟙𝟛 ℙ𝕒𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤 𝔼𝕧𝕖𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 🤝 A reminder, we look forward to welcoming parents and carers of Y10, 12 and 13 students into the academy this 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 (12th February) between 𝟰𝗽𝗺 and 𝟳𝗽𝗺 for their first parents evening following mock 1 and mid-year assessments. 📆 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 ⏰ 𝟰𝗽𝗺 - 𝟳𝗽𝗺 📲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽 These conversations are particularly important at this stage of each year group, helping students to recognise their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and understand the next steps needed to achieve their full potential.
