Information for Applicants

We are very proud to be the base for Richard Rose Sixth Form – the Post 16 centre for both Richard Rose Central and Morton: our shared Sixth Form is an integral part of our wider success.   Our key aims are to provide you with a first class education and to give you the experiences and skills that will lead to a successful future. In the last reported results (2018/19) we secured the best point score and average grade results in the city (and these were bettered in 2019/20 with CAGs and in 20/21 with TAGs) and we have seen a 47% growth in numbers from 2019 entrants to 2021
This has meant that we can run more subjects and pathways and have improved the experience for all our students and the progress our students make at A-Level and BTEC Level 3 places us in the top few Sixth Forms across the whole of the city with an enrichment programme that is second to none. Students here are treated as young adults and enjoy the exclusive use of our Sixth Form resources, which brings with it greater personal freedom and independence.
Most importantly, however, you will find the Sixth Form here is a welcoming, diverse and supportive community, and this is something we value very highly.  We understand that Post 16 study is a big challenge, and you will have the support of a wide range of staff both in and out of the classroom.

Located predominantly on the top floor of Richard Rose Central, the Sixth Form Centre provides students with a a modern, spacious environment that will enhance their learning experience. The high ceilings, large windows and spacious rooms allow the building to be filled with natural light which contributes to a positive sense of well-being.
The Sixth Form cafeteria provides high quality food and the bright common room area allows students to relax in a comfortable space. The flexible learning pod caters for students that want to get on with group work, whilst the private study room provides a silent place for academic study. Students have access to Chromebooks in all areas to support digital learning.
The building is also home to the Sixth Form Team, a group of dedicated staff that are committed to helping the students here fulfil their academic potential. We hope that you will take the opportunity to come and visit us and choose Richard Rose Sixth Form as the place to continue your path to academic success.

At RRSF we take the welfare and academic progress of our Sixth Form students very seriously.  The individual care which we can provide is one of the key reasons why students thrive and succeed here.  Students are known personally - they are never 'one of the crowd’.  Monitoring your welfare will be your Form Tutor, working with Mr Priestley and Mr Hamilton (Yr12) or Mrs Sullivan (Yr13). These members of staff will decide when an intervention needs to be made to help a student achieve their personal best.  They will also be on the look out for any welfare issues, or barriers to learning.  Supported by the whole school’s Safeguarding Team, there is always someone who can be called on to help.

Please complete an online application form or download the form and return it to the Sixth Form Administrator.
Please note, personal statements and school references are not required.

Entry into the Sixth Form requires six passes at GCSE Level including English and at least a Grade 4 in Maths. A GCSE Grade 5 is recommended in a subject if you would like to continue it at Post 16. Please note that Mathematics highly recommends a Grade 7 and Further Maths requires a GCSE Grade 7. Please refer to the curriculum page for more details of individual course requirements.
